Antique Silver Pendant with Saptamatrika – BUJARI. A pendant made of antique silver (approx. 40 – 50 years old) and depicting Saptamatrika. A handcrafted pendant of traditional Indian jewelry depicting the seven mother goddesses.

The pendant depicts representations of goddesses found in shrines throughout India, often flanked by Virabhadra (a fierce form of Shiva) on the left and the elephant-headed Ganesha on the right.

Individual mothers can be identified by their weapons, and by their ornaments. Depictions dedicated to the Saptamatrika are found as early as the 11th century, later, as some scholars suggest, absorbed into the growing cult of Shakti (the divine creative energy personified as female).
