Batik is a decorative technique for fabrics called reserve. The fabrics, preferably white and made of natural fibres of animal or vegetable origin (cotton and linen), are immersed in a colour bath after having reserved(i.e. covered) the areas that must not be dyed, with wax melted in a bain-marie and then left to cool before dyeing.

The process can be repeated several times, reservingother areas and dyeing with increasingly darker colors. For this reason, each pareo is a unique piece and can vary in color and intensity thanks to the artisanal workmanship.

The designs and colors of this pareo may vary slightly in shade because the pareo is made entirely by hand and these small variations are an added value of a completely handcrafted pareo.

Additionally, this tribal patterned cotton pareo can also be used as a sarong, a large piece of cotton draped around the waist and worn like a skirt by men and women in many parts of Asia.

The fabric is in fact often dyed with bright natural colors, or worked with various geometries and patterns.
