Lakshmi (or Laksmi) is the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune, youth, and beauty. She is the wife of the great god Vishnu, and the pair are often worshiped in tandem as Lakshmi-Narayana.

In Hinduism, Lakshmi is the Deity of abundance, light, wisdom and destiny, but also of fortune, beauty and fertility. She is commonly considered the consort (Śakti) of Vishnu, and mother with him of Kama, deva of love. She is a highly venerated deity, and in addition to being the object of worship by every Hindu denomination, she is also worshipped by many Jains and Buddhists.
